    • Common signs and symptoms of a Shock include:

      1. Pale skin
      2. Tachycardia or rapid pulse
      3. Hyperventilation or rapid and deep breathing
      4. Vomiting and feeling ill
      5. Gazing as if the person is staring, sometimes the pupils are dilated
      6. Dizziness, Fatigue, and Feeling faint, the patient feels himself weakened or stunned
      7. Anxious, in a delirium like state
      8. Severe hypotension due to decreased cardiac output
      9. Cold clammy skin due to decreased cardiac output and hypoperfusion of tissue
      10. Edema in foot and ankle that usually develops as a result of a blood clot in the deep veins of the lower leg. Venous thromboembolism (VTE), including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) usually develops as a result of slow flowing blood around venous valve sinuses.

      Late onset symptoms include:

      1. Oliguria or decreased urine output due to renal failure
      2. Dyspnea or shortness of breath due to lung failure or acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)
      3. GI bleeding and paralytic ileus due to gastrointestinal lesions
