The effectiveness of different ways in the fighting hypertension (high blood pressure) and cardiovascular disease  (heart disease)

Heart disease often leads to myocardial infarction (heart attack) or ischemic stroke, which is characterized by high mortality rate and severe complications such as paralysis and sudden death.

The main reason for this life-threatening condition is the deposition of cholesterol and triglycerides (animal fat) inside the arteries and in the arterial walls leading to their narrowing, stiffness (they lose elasticity) and blockages (due to their narrowing) thus forming atherosclerosis one of the main conditions leading to cardiovascular disease, hypertension and strokes ‘deaths’.

Despite the fact that sex (being a male) and age (above 45) are significant factors for atherosclerosis, atherosclerosis is not an inevitable consequence of sex and aging and it can be prevented by life modifications and precautions.

The main factors leading to hypertension and atherosclerosis include:

  1. Genetic predisposition, if you have a paternal relative suffering or have suffered of atherosclerosis then you are more likely to suffer of it, for this you must have regular medical tests (routine tests to check the levels of blood fats), to be sure that your blood fat levels are at norm.
  2. Smoking, healthcare professionals recommend to quit smoking because overtime it may lead into stiffed and widened arteries.
  3. Excessive intake of fats and sugars, such poor eating habits could lead into many diseases and not only atherosclerosis.
  4. Obesity and weight gain, obese people are found to suffer of atherosclerosis more than ordinary people {in-shape}, an affective way to monitor your bodies is using the BMI calculator.
  5. Hypertension or high blood pressure, regardless of the origin of hypertension, ongoing high pressure may lead into widened arteries and consequently these arteries will lose elasticity and normal functions, being fit and enjoying a healthy life will help you fight hypertension.
  6. Laziness and lack of exercise, excess calories means more fat building up in the body.
  7. Diabetes specially type 2 diabetes, most people with diabetes suffer of hypertension and elevated fat levels in blood (high cholesterol levels and elevated levels of triglycerides) and are at increased risk of developing atherosclerosis.
  8. Abnormal levels of blood fats such as high levels of cholesterol, high LDL cholesterol (low density lipoproteins), elevated levels of triglycerides and low HDL cholesterol (high density lipoproteins).
  9. Bad work/life habits, such chronic situations can cause a variety of symptoms such as ongoing nervousness and tension, which, in turn, can cause many hormonal imbalances (impaired homeostasis) and can eventually lead into diseases such as diabetes, chronic stress, gastritis, atherosclerosis, etc.
