Heart Healthy Diet prevents recurrent heart attacks and strokes

Heart healthy diet can help reduce your risk of developing cardiovascular disease, diabetes and hypertension; however, eating foods rich in polyunsaturated fats commonly found in fish, nuts, certain vegetables and seeds, etc. can improve blood cholesterol levels and might be your best weapon to fight obesity. Moreover, according to a new research published in the journal of the American Heart Association (AHA), a heart healthy diet can also help reduce your risk of some cancers.[1][5][6]

Humans have been modifying recipes for centuries, a heart healthy diet plan has provided enormous benefits in reducing the after effects of food waste.[4]

Modern cardiovascular therapeutics recommend a combination of a healthy diet with proper medications, which provided the best prognosis; Moreover, the benefits of a proper heart friendly diet outnumber those gained from using drugs such as aspirin, angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), hypolipidemic agents (statins), and beta blockers, because the risk of side effects outweighs the benefits, especially when used as long term medications to treat Coronary Artery Disease.[3]

A new research organized by expert nutritionists enrolled 31,546 adults (average age 66.5) with cardiovascular disease. After studying the search results, experts has concluded that those who ate a heart healthy diet significantly reduced the risk of developing a cardiovascular event in the future. Moreover, the mortality rate from such an event was reduced by 35%.[2]

The researchers surveyed 31546 adults with cardiovascular disease and asked them about their dietary habits and how often they consumed milk, vegetables, fruit, grains, fish, meat and poultry in the past 12 months. Moreover, they were also asked about lifestyle choices such as alcohol consumption, smoking and exercise.

Total scores were determined on daily basis, and they included the average consumption of fruits, vegetable and grains. Moreover, the ratio of fish to meat consumption was also determined.

During 5 years of follow-up, participants experienced 5190 cardiovascular events.

Researchers found that those who ate a heart healthy diet had

  • 35 percent reduction in the risk of cardiovascular death.
  • 14 percent reduction in the risk of new heart attacks.
  • 28 percent reduction in the risk of congestive heart failure.
  • 19 percent reduction in the risk of stroke.

Food habits in different regions of the world vary widely; however, the role of professionalism is to bring results together, thus when a healthy diet proves its effectiveness in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, results and details are shared globally, to reach everyone throughout the world, regardless of the individuals’ socio-economic status.[9][10][11]

A diet rich in vegetables and fruits with a high intake of fish (high ratio of fish to meat) appeared to be more beneficial in preventing heart disease. Moreover, super food nutrition includes more than 50 essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, carnitine, rutinquercetin, flavonoids , catechins, anthocyanins, astaxanthin, etc. essential for the human body to function properly, which can help you prevent cancer, fight disease, and accelerate fracture healing.[1][8]

Retaining a heart healthy diet could substantially reduce cardiovascular recurrence regardless of how a drug effect occurs, which could save millions of lives and reduce the risk of atherosclerosis, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.[1][12]
