Precision, Repeatability and Reproducibility of Computed Tomography

CT has a long list of distinct advantages over most of the devices in its field, including its relative low cost, availability, and ease of patient monitoring as well as its popularity among hospitals and healthcare professionals worldwide (established in most centers with stroke services)[2]. Nowadays dynamic and angiographic imaging is possible because of the multidetector CT, which has increased the imaging speed.

To utilize the most useful and widely available CT technologies, CTP and CTA can be done after NCCT on 16-section multidetector scanners, which consume less than 2 minutes of the total scanning time for CTP/CTA. This procedure requires less than 10min and can be done along with IVT administration. Furthermore 15 min of additional acquisition time and 10 min of additional postprocessing time may be consumed.

  • It is possible to use CTP imaging on low radiation dosage, yet this can produce useful perfusion maps. Optimizing CTP in accordance with the FDA is recommended.

Common usage:

  • For stenosis detection according to calcium score, the method is used for calcium scoring, Significant CAD is defined as calcium score >1,000

Patient Safety and Experience

  • Works similar to other x-ray examinations.
  • Rapid availability and Relative cost efficacy

Accuracy

  • It allows the exploration and ruling out the existence of subclinical CAD on cardiac CT in patients with extra cardiac
  • Arterial disease accounted for 56.8 % of cardiovascular diseases, early detection via CT and proper treatment setting may reduce coronary artery disease mortality in this high risk group.

Availability

  • CT is available in most hospitals and healthcare centers with stroke services.
