1- Prevent overuse injuries, rest and get off your feet, keep your foot elevated and protect an injured or sore area if it exists

2- Try wrapping the injured or sore area with an elastic bandage (a compression bandage), such as an Ace wrap to decrease swelling.

3- Watch your weight and lose weight if necessary

4- Apply a cold compress or bag of ice to the knee for 20-30 minutes 3 to 4 times each day. Alternatively, you can use frozen vegetables if you have no ice handy

5- Keep your leg muscles strong to relieve pressure on the joint, try low-impact activities like swimming or cycling
